idea week, running from 9-12 November, features a host of design events taking place across Sydney in the run up to the spectacular idea09 awards party.
The week kicks off with Design Pitch, where 10 designers present 10 hot new designs.
Speakers include: Kristian Aus, Design by Them, Adam Goodrum, Trent Jansen, Helen Kontouris, Rohan Nicol, Stephen Proctor, Lisa Vincitorio and Matthew Sheargold.
The winner is voted for by the audience, and the lucky designer goes to Milan, courtesy of Corporate Culture. Monday 9 November, 6-8pm at Corporate Culture, 21-23 Levey Street, Chippendale. This is a free event, but space is limited so book early.

Sound bites takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, when a selection of idea shortlisted designers present their projects over two consecutive lunchtimes.
Speakers representing: futurespace, Geyer, Valmont, Siren Design, Derlot, Sheargold Design and the World is Round.
Tuesday 10 November & Wednesday 11 November, 12.30–1.30pm at Stylecraft, 223-225 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst. This is a free event, but space is limited so book early.

The idea09 Exhibition of all 275 shortlisted entries to the awards opens on Tuesday 10 November, from 5.30-7.30pm. As well as featuring all of this year’s entries, the exhibition also covers the background and past winners of idea, Australia’s most prestigious interior design awards. 10-22 November, Customs House (Ground Level), 31 Alfred Street, Circular Quay. The exhibition is free.
Design Network is a new initiative launched during idea week, bringing together interior design professionals over dinner to discuss the design industry. The aim of the evening is to discuss solutions to current practice challenges and explore means of putting these solutions into practice. Wednesday 11 November, 7-11pm at Sailors Thai Restaurant, 106 George Street, The Rocks. Tickets are $60 (limited to 40).

The week culminates in the spectacular idea09 Gala Party celebrating Australian design and the winners of idea09. Taking place on Thursday 12 November from 6.30pm-12am at The ivy, the party will be a glamorous end to an eventful week. DJs Magic Happens and Anna Lunoe will perform on the night.
